According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the season's 18thtyphoon, some 230 km south of Tanegashima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture in the Pacific, was moving northwards at a speed of 30 km per hour at 11:40 a.m. (0240 GMT), with a maximum wind velocity of 45 meters per second at its center, the agency said.
